Nicola Brandt, Mother says her memory is fading, 2018

This series speaks to the future loss of memory and the failure of photographs to act as an aide-mémoire. Instead, photographs create skewed perceptions of the past, contributing to ahistoricism and nostalgia. Through these works, Brandt explores the complicity and contradictions of ordinary people who knowingly live in systems that are immoral and violent.
